Bushido: Spirit of Daring |
Generally speaking, GenKotsu summarizes the warrior's code of honor in the following basic tenets: Courage, Politeness, Honor, Loyalty, Education and Self-Control.
Bushido: The Spirit of Daring
Courage...
The Spirit of daring
Politeness...
Courtesy and good manners
Honor...
Personal dignity
Loyalty...
Your dojo and your sensei come first
Education...
Learn wisdome
Self-Control...
Show no pain, anger or fear
Bear in mind, however, that Bushido is not simply a collection of words or of definitions. A person can very easily know each of these points without understanding how they fit together to form a code of living.
Furthermore, a person can understand Bushido Way of life and NOT abide by that Way. But such a person cannot do so in GenKotsu.
A willingness to learn and develop in this honorable Way of the Warrior is the first thing GenKotsu students begin to learn; and it is the one lesson on which all other successes rely.
